Seema Chari is a quizmaster, author, anchor and knowledge media professional. She is a Director in Xpress Minds Edutainment Pvt. Ltd., a knowledge media and events company with 12+ years of active experience in ideation, conception, compilation, organisation and conduction of school, college and corporate quizzes, content and format creation for multimedia knowledge-based programmes and reality shows, creation of general knowledge content for books and development of new media such as online software, SMS and mobile apps for facilitating the spread of knowledge and interest therein among different target groups, including school children in the 8-18 year age bracket, university students, corporate professionals and public institutions.
Seema Chari has authored more than 20 books on GK and trivia and is a children’s author particularly for young readers. She conducts workshops on general knowledge, effective reading and writing skills and is a career pedagogue, specialising in the ideation, creation and utilisation of authentic materials as a didactic resource.
Seema was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) and spent her formative years in the cities connected by the Golden Quadrilateral – Calcutta (Kolkata), Madras (Chennai) and New Delhi (still New Delhi). She is an unabashed city rat, who loves the great open spaces, the mountains and the sea, jungles and the simplicity of rural life, as long as she does not have to inhabit any of them for overlong periods. A lifelong academic, she holds a degree in English Literature, two Master’s degrees – one in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University and one in Didactics from the Dipartmento di Scienze del linguaggio, Università Ca’ Foscari, Venice – an M. Phil in Italian from the University of Delhi, and has cleared NET with a specialisation in French (she has not used it till date, but completed it to prove a point). She has more than 17 years’ experience as a French and Italian teacher, trainer, translator and interpreter. She has written and directed plays, acted on stage and on screen, anchored TV shows and conducted over 500 quizzes. A Bharatanatyam dancer who had her public Arangetram aged 7 years and 11 months, she gravitated towards jazz dancing in her thirties. As an undergrad student, she sang ad jingles and provided backing vocals for thhe 1993 Tamil/Telugu/Hindi film 'Thiruda Thiruda' for one AS Dileep Kumar (now perhaps better known as AR Rahman!).
